is a master potter from
Mata Ortiz
. He is featured in Susan Lowell's book 'The Many Faces od Mata Ortiz' as well as other publicatons about this wonderful artform. Gerardo has been making pottery since he was 12 years old. He learned from
Juan Quezada
and taught his brother
Martin Cota
- now a highly skilled potter also. This featured olla (made in 2005) is the first olla he has made in the last two years due to a severe cataract problem that prevented him from working at his highest level. The eye problem now cured we offer Gerardo's first olla in the quality one would expect from this wonderfully skilled artist. The olla measures 7.0"h x 6.25"w done in white clay and painted in
mimbres designs
with rich red ochre and black paint.
