Leonel Lopez Saenz is a master potter from the village of Mata Ortiz. His work is known and sold world wide in galleries and found in many private collections. He is best known for his exquisite sgraffito work in white clay and multi colored pieces. This wonderful olla is one of his famous 'Lagartos' designs. Done in white clay with a red slip with 'Doce Blanco Lagartos'(twelve white lizards) in a patterned sgraffitoed design. What makes this piece unique is the LIzards (lagartos) are done in white!
